The Soft Stuff
You can't beat a wool blanket on a cold night, or warm picnic, or squidgy sofa... I like to stick to British wools, as we are still able to source and weave in the UK. Or linen, which derives from the flax plant, is such a treat next to your skin - silky, breathable and hypoallergenic. My preference is always for natural fibres, especially those that don't leave much of a footprint environmentally, and will be valued for generations.
Hand-made cushions - £40-£50
The three cream cushions on the left in this photo are from Romney Marsh Wools, undyed wool from the farm in Kent, spun and woven in the the UK and made to order on the farmhouse kitchen table! The inserts are pure wool, from the same sheep. The stripy cushions are made in Berwick by our very own The Hare in Winter, original linocut prints on pure linen. The knitted cushion is also from The Hare in Winter.

Romney Marsh dogtooth throw £200; cushions £46 each
This distinctive dogtooth pattern weave uses a selection of Romney wool and lambswool fleeces from Romney Marsh Wool's own flock - a six-generation farm in Kent. Lambswool adds a finer, softer finish to the natural warmth and durability of the Romney wool. Eco Recap: British sheep's wool, woven by talented craftsfolk in the UK using the natural colours of the wool and no synthetic dyes. You really can't get greener. The throw is a kingsize, 84 inches x 60 inches, 7ftx5ft (or 215x150cm if you must). The cushions have wool pads.
